Yeah. I'm happy. ^________^

Best in Show at Yasumicon 2008 for Freya. Yaaaaaay!!! I feel like I can call myself a cosplayer. Even if it was a small con, I'm soooo happy. >_< When they got down to Best in Show, I thought for sure I just hadn't won anything at all, but when they started talking about the steel skeleton in the winner's hat and the hand braided ringmail, I started smiling like an idiot.

This is Freya's second medal. I feel better about setting her aside to focus on other cosplay now. I don't think I'll get any better than Best in Show at Yasumi. ^_^; Honestly, I still feel like they must have overlooked twenty thousand mistakes on the costume to give me that... I know they weren't judging my prop, though. ^^; The contest was actually on Saturday but I was too tired after the con to really do anything.

The crazy campus security dudes made me take the prosthetic nose off because of rules about face visibility on school campuses. =_=; That was kind of annoying to have to rip off my face right after rejudging when I got there and then reapply the adhesive for the contest in three hours and then rip it off again after. The mask suffered some from it too. T__T;

But other than that, Yasumi was way too much fun. There wasn't a ton to do compared to Anime Boston and Metrocon, but what I did was very educational and what there was to see and do was good quality. I learned about all sorts of armor making techniques by molding from cosplayers, and about figures and plastic gundam models from panels. I think I may be attempting to find a Sandrock or Anavel Gato's Geloog at a collectibles show in a couple weeks. Gato's manly purpley-pink space suit is just too wonderful. Yay for something else to spend money on. Gunpla. My mom will be thrilled. XD

For some reason, I'm on a big mecha kick and a Final Fantasy kick at the same time. I guess I'm kind of always on an FF kick though. After vowing that I would not buy any more silly metal swords, I came home with a small scale model of Cloud's First Tsurugi from Advent Children. It was too cool too pass up. >__< and only cost 80 dollars for this. [link] Also, another volume of Bananafish, which I haven't read in forever, for three bucks and two random volumes of X for 5 bucks apiece. Woohoo for bargain bins.

Renji from Metrocon was there too. Cool to see him again. He won Fan Favorite at the costume competition, yay! There was also an awesome Final Fantasy 4 group. A Rydia, an Edge and a Rosa, all very pretty. Also a Neku. Rah for twewy. ^___^

These dudes are AMAZING. O.O [link]. Everyone should see and eat their work. I had a companion cube on Saturday and Phoenix Wright on Sunday. Delicious! They apparently make those cakes on commission. I'm totally getting a chocobo cake... sometime.

Happy and really, really tired. XD

Hey hey!!
I think I talked to you at Yasumicon last year :)
Did you go this year?
:iconkdr82:
You definitely did, cause I remember your pictures on DeviantArt.

I'm actually not in the country right now, so I'm missing out on all the cons ;_; Did you go? How was it!?
:iconcuckoo-cachu:
Aww really? Well, that's awesome, cause you didn't miss anything for sure. >.<
I was actually reeeally disappointed in Yasumicon this year.
In a nutshell, the registration was an absolute mess, food was sparse (the Maid Cafe was run horribly. You had to make reservations and on top of that there was a 30 min+ wait, and then in the end they ran out of certain food items). Also, there weren't many cosplayers, and if someone did decide to dress up, it was done half-heartedly and what kind of enthusiasm does that show? x_x Oh yeah, and it was freaking blazing. LOL!

I'm actually trying to redeem myself by going to Anime Festival Orlando this year.. <.<
But yeah, as you can see, it was a total drag. xD!
